- Trip Information: Start and end locations, timestamps, distance traveled, and trip purpose (Business, Personal, Medical, or custom categories)
Device Information
- Device Identifier: A unique ID to sync your data across devices
- Bluetooth Information: If you use vehicle recognition, we access Bluetooth to detect connected vehicles
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain trip tracking services
- Calculate mileage and generate trip reports
- Sync your data across multiple devices
- Authenticate your account and prevent unauthorized access
- Improve app functionality and user experience

3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely:
- Local Storage: Trip data is stored on your device in an encrypted SQLite database
- Cloud Backup: Your trips are backed up to our secure cloud servers using PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections
- Password Security: Passwords are hashed using bcrypt encryption and never stored in plain text
- Data Transmission: All communication between the app and our servers uses secure HTTPS/TLS encryption
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We may share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share information
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government regulation
- Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate the app (hosting, database services) under strict confidentiality agreements

You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: View all your trip data and account information within the app
- Correction: Edit or update trip details, categories, and notes at any time

- Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
- Location Permissions: Control location access through your device settings (note: disabling will prevent trip tracking)

7. Children's Privacy
MileTracker Pro is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
8. Location Tracking
Background Location: MileTracker Pro uses background location tracking to automatically detect trips even when the app is closed. This is essential for automatic trip detection. You can control this permission in your device settings, but disabling it will prevent automatic trip tracking.
9. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Effective Date" above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. International Users
MileTracker Pro is operated in the United States. If you are using the app from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
